Double Bass New to me 1/2 size

Well, at the Nashville guitar show Saturday, I traded a cheapo guitar I didn't want for a Georg Hellmer(Framus) half-size bass. It fits in the car so nicely & seems to thump out purty good even though I'd say it definitely needs a new bridge!:hyper: Are my eyeballs deceiving me(I am getting old) or could this be a solid wood bass? It's post WWII because the paper tag is "made in West Germany". When I clear out another corner to put it in(a coupla days, at least, I'd guess) I'll do some photos. It came with a wacky little stick-on pup that's round, red perimeter & black center about the size of a quarter and about a quarter-inch thick. I've seen them before, but, no clue as to what brand. I traded an Epi Korina V that I had $300 in.

pics? Half-sizes can be fun.

I agree. I think I can warm right up to the 38" scale length, as well, lol. And, it's way louder than any ABG I've ever seen, so, I think it'll suit my purpose of playin' with a couple of acoustic guitars & 3 part vocal harmonies without use of an amp. Got a busy week, though, including hospital visit and a guy driving up from Fla to buy a pair of old Ampex 440's, so, it'll definitely be a few days before I can relax & do pics. Any clue as to what the pickup is? Reminds me of old Barcus-Berry guitar pickup except for the much larger size.

Been gone a few months, but, back for now. Yippeeee! It IS an all solid woods bass! I WILL try to get some pics ASAP, still lotsa other chores to get done. But, the worst thing is that it has a 3/4 size bridge with the feet shaved off. Yecch. But, my bass buddy went apesh*t over it & said to definitely put dough into this one rather than my Englehardt Swingmaster, especially since I like the 38" scale better. So, I guess the big 20 year old blonde is for sale, heck, I could use the space, anyhow. So, the first two things I can afford at the same time are a bridge & tailpiece cable. Recommendations?
