The "new" feeling lasted for a year on my last bass. I can relate to the gear mountain I have a Kenneth Lawrence Chamberbrase II and a Emperor Deluxe 5 on order I am so grateful !At this point in life I know I am at my gear summit . While waiting for these basses I currently play a Peavey Foundation 5 and a and I love it! Whether its custom boutique or import I very seldom meet a bass I don't like.

I had one exactly like yours (ahs/quilted maple top body) and the headstock was also black but it had 3band pope. Sold it

Nice bass, and looks like an interesting spec.
As for snark, Foderas tend to highlight a player's technique or lack thereof. They are brutally honest instruments. Could explain why some guys don't like them. Some of us are gluttons for punishment.

Those Brases always looked like gothic works of art. And the Foderas are of course the apex of workmanship. I'm all about ergonomics and utility now, so I just ordered two Zon's that are custom spec'd. The wait begins.

The new feeling with my Emperor 5 Standard lasted over a year. I literally couldn't walk past it without picking it up. That didn't happen with other high end basses I have previously owned. I sold it as I have another Custom on order and can't justify owning 3 Foderas as I am basically doing weekend cover gigs these days.
BTW, my "cheap" backup (I mentioned it above) is a china/IndoPeavey Millennium 5er and it is surprisingly good. I bet the US ones are killer.
USA Millenniums are no joke. Their fit and finish is on par with a Music Man or US G&L.
I think this is a Monarch 'New Standard' which was a short lived line - Pre Jason - about 12 or more yrs ago

Play her in good health for many years to come and congrats! I heard they also made a Emperor 5 in this model ,but I have never seen a picture. I love the Ebony headstock cap on your Monarch I think it would look great on todays Monarch and Emperor standards. I am sure there is a reason they don't do it .
It's awesome! There's also an ebony veneer In-between the ash and quilted maple top.
That is beautiful, seriously, if it sounded like crap I would want it just to look at it. Fortunately, I am sure it sounds at least as good
