New (to me) Tribute L2500

So i just picked this up on ebay because i have been longing for another G&L since getting rid of both my ASAT and SB2 in favor of 5-strings. anyway, here it is. a Tribute L2500 in Gun Metal Blue. Any idea what year they stopped offering that finish?

I should get it friday...hope its a good one.

Ah, that's where that bass went. I was wanting to get it myself, but didn't get the funds together in time! I have one 5 tribute and want another one! Totally made my jazz sound weak compared to the G&L. Love'em!

yeah, i'm pretty excited to get it! i'm a little nervous about the fret work and stuff but hopefully it'll be fine...plus i know it will sound good

My current Tribute is the blueburst type finish with a maple neck. No fret or neck issues at all on it. They are very well put together. G&L did it right with this series.

Through the bridge. Never been a big fan of through the body for some reason. Just a personal preference.

That's the exact bass I had, and I miss it severely right now...

Not much if any at all. The only real difference in the electronics is that the USA features a socket mounted chip (op amp) and the Trib's is hard mounted. This is not a big deal to me as I really prefer the passive L2000/L2500 tones. You can get Ash bodies or Alder bodies in either the MIA or Trib basses depending on the finish you select. That is going to have a more pronounced difference I think ...

it looks even better in person...and everything is top-notch as far as fretwork and hardware goes (better than the USA ASAT i used to own). the treble pot is a little noisy, but nothing too bad. i'm definitely impressed with the quality of tributes...i wish i knew what year this was from

me too,I never knew this finish existed till now.its understated and classy

+1 on the tribby fretwork. they're excellent in this respect. the only thing I wish they'd do is resolve/blend the volute behind the nut a little neater

I had a play of both of these, a Bongo and an anniversary edition (20th or 30th) of either a silhouette or a Bongo (nearly $5000 AUD). I couldn't hear much difference between the G&Ls but did notice an odd electric buzz (earth?) in the US made L-2500. Both of the Musicman's had fast necks with low actions and were very easy to play. But not enough for me to give up either of my L5Ks.

Nice ..... I was watching this one. Good to hear that it met your expectations in terms of fretwork, etc..
I pulled a used MIK Tribute L-2500 off the wall at GC yesterday and was very impressed with the fretwork, neck/neck pocket and overall condition.
It made the trip home. It has the more common Cherryburst over Ash finish and is currently being cleaned up and re-strung, pics to follow someday soon.
The color you got is killer.

New (to me) L-2500.

As noted above, picked this one off the wall at GC on Friday. MIK L-2500 in good shape. A few small dings in the headstock and the bottom strap pin moved to a new hole (guess the previous owner did not know the toothpick trick).
Cleaned up and new strings, it looks and plays well. I have never felt comfortable on a Fiver, but after playing this all day I am feeling real good about it.
Light for a Five, it weighs about the same as my SB-2. Balances well and has great tone. Pre-amp is a bit noisy but not constant, depends on what is on around it.
Great value for the $$.
