New to Octave Pedals

No guru here. Just noticed the differences in strings make all my pitch tracking devise respond differently. @Feral Feline the octaver on your M5 is a great one. A personal favorite.

For perspective, I own:
MXR BOD
Eventide H9(Pitchfactor)
Line6 M9
Mantic Density Hulk

I've owned:
Digitech BSW
Boss OC2 MIT
Pitchfactor
Iron Ether Subterranea(v1)

I want to own:
Another OC2
Digitech Bass Whammy
EHX POG2/microPOG
EHX HOG
3Leaf Octavbredfkrkidj
Aguilar Octamizer
EBS Octabass
DOD Meatbox
And every other one.

So there's a lot out there. If I had to pick 1 ring to rule them all it would be H9/Pitchfactor. If I had to pick on a budget it's a toss up between the M5 and BOD. M5 for extra pitch abilities. BOD for being straight forward and awesome.

Could the poly mode on the OC3 be exactly what OP is looking for..?

Also, the Copilot FX octaver sounds amazing and tracks to an F# or lower, depending.

To really do it as described above: a separate pickup for your D & G strings routed to an octaver while the A, E and B string are left unaffected! Or affect your A string as well, so A, D & G on a separate signal path...

Hey, no sweat on the "hijack" Feral, and thanks for the pickup comment. I was hoping there might be a digital pedal that would do that - select notes to effect (a little bit like the threshold concept on a compressor) and then "octavate" them. Hey, all you electronics guys, there's a new pedal invention there for the taking - the "Octavator Select"

There are methods of doing this, but they are prohibitively expensive, require modding a bass, have tracking problems, or some combination of the above. We're getting closer, though.

Yup. Posted a very long review about it on TB; basically it's super awesome except that it seems to only track in the range of a 4 string bass.
