New to StingRay basses

Changing strings for the first time on this new acquisition, a 2002 StingRay 3 EQ H. How much string length beyond the tuner do experienced users recommend on this instrument? Anything unique or special about an EBMM bass that makes it any different from Fenders, Carvins that I am more familiar with? Use the old 'four-finger width' rule? Or two tuning posts away distance. Thanks for the help.
I strung my 2 Stingrays like I've strung every other bass I've owned in the last 55 years. Two tuning posts away, then come back an inch or so, and make a right angle bend at that spot. Cut the string an inch or so past the bend; then, install like usual...
