New Torque Wrench

Heh. Harbor Freight.

Good for nick-nack tools or disposable stuff. I already smoked a 4" angle grinder. One day's worth of work that a DeWalt woulda laughed at, and that thing's gearbox was shrapnel.

Sears is the best store in the world! I love Guitar Center but I always walk out with a headache. Craftsman all the way, last forever. Although the Snap-On truck is super bada$$.. last time I was in one was at a Super Chevy Show.

Well... I do love my Craftsman hand tools. But for power tools, DeWalt and only DeWalt.

I've bought so far, a sawzall, a 4" grinder, and a jigsaw. All Craftsman. After enough use from them, I HATE THEM ALL compared to the DeWalts we have at work. The DeWalt stuff has better safety features like their speed controls and triggers, guarding, and sturdiness. Especially the sawzall blade.

Oh, but I'll give Craftsman credit for having the best cases for their tools. If DeWalt could make their cases with little compartments inside them for, say, drill bits or more saw blades or more grinding wheels, they'd have the monopoly.

I used to be a dewalt lover, but now that I have used the new Makita, there is not contest. To top it off, it isn't made in China.

For elecric power tools, I'll only buy Porter Cable or Milwaulke (sp?) Dewalts are made on the exact same assembly line as Black & Decker.

I'll definitely buy a Porter-Cable and a Milwaukee. But Makitas have had some baaad experiences here in my shop. We're staying away from them.


Hmm. Interesting that Black n Decker and DeWalt have the same parent company. Who does Ryobi share its designs and fabrication with?

What kind of experiences have you had with Makita? The new stuff is LIGHT and I have seen them fall from 30 feet onto cement and still work perfectly.

A reasonable compromise would be Craftsman. The warranty is darn good, too.

I've found both my Craftsman click-type torque wrenches to be quite excellent... just buy the cases for the extra $7 or so. Totally worth it.

I couldn't justify a $350 torque wrench, otherwise I'd be getting all Snapon.

I would consider these guys simply because they have the coolest name in tools. I just wish they had t-shirts.
