New US made Tube amp from Ashdown!

Cool looking head. I am a GK user but really want to put a tube head rig together. Sadly Ampeg just doesn't float my boat. Tube bass heads, other than Ampeg, are few and far between in my parts. Especially anything with that kind of power.

Side note: I would really like to try the Peavey VB2 based on reviews I have read but the demo video on YouTube with Ellefson left me less than impressed. The grind sound threw me off.

Next year I plan on getting something tubey, the VB-2 does it. However the Grind channel harsh and cold. absolutely pointless unless you like your bass sounding just super midrangey and treblely.

:D My thoughts exactly! Ashdown have great products (I have an EvoII ABM500 and it's amazing) and some great ideas, but seem to have developed a terrible habit in recent years of announcing products that are clearly nowhere near ready! That said, I am as interested as the next person in this valve amp, if the quality of their previous product is any indication.

It doesn't have to be an 8x10 to be a 4 ohm cab. It's disappointing to me to see it doesn't do 2 ohms as well. My main amps (DB750 and '73 SVT) both do 2 ohms, so all my cabs are 4 ohm cabs.

I gotta say, I'm totally in love with the look of this head. I really don't care what it sounds like. I'm sold.

Now to sell the wife...oh well...nice thought while it lasted.

I'm amazed how many tube amps are brought to market lately (couple of years) Seems we're due for a what's old is new trend again? Maybe Diezel will put out a product to temporarily wow us like their VH4 and Herbert did to the guitar world.
