New Warwick- Defective!!?!

hey there-
I just bought a new warwick from music power last month. all was well.

Music Power is great. I feel they have gone above and beyond to try to remedy it on their end. Unfortunately, they are out of stock with them and could not guarantee a replacement in the quoted time US Music Corp could.

When the decision was made to go under the warranty, they even sent me packing materials to mail the bass to US Music Corp (as it was originally shipped in a case that would not be going back with the bass).

The service there is great and I will continue to do business with them.

I've called, emailed them, posted on Forums, and even emailed Hans-Peter Wilfer.

I've also saved copies of everything...

When I received the defective bass in April I was advised to call the distributor. I did, and they said they had one in stock and would ship it as soon as they received the bass from me.

Then on May 3rd they emailed me to say they shipped the last one and it could be up to 90 days for a replacement. At that point I contacted the store (Music Power) to see what options I had with returning/exchanging through them.

Music Power told me on May 6th that they wouldn't be able to get any in stock for some time and that they'd check what they can get to see if there was anything else they could swap it with.

Then later that dat, before they could get back to me, the distributor contacted me with an updated ETA of 3-4 weeks. Since that was much more reasonable (and I wanted a Warwick over any other brand) I agreed to send it to the distributor instead of Music Power.

BIG MISTAKE!!!

The distributor did offer me strings when they gave me the 8/20 date. Since they don't have the kind I use, they offered me the S Strap Locks and a discounted JAN 3 Brass. Although i do appreciate that, it won't help much without a bass!!!

I'm waiting for the distributor to get new stock in too...it's driving me nutty...
I got a date of 8/28 that they'll have my RB Vampyre on the dock at the distributor...maybe your Corvette will be there too
What drives me nuts is...I've been wanting this bass for a long time...I saved up and ordered it knowing I can go down the street and spec a brand new Fender P the way I want it and pick it up in two weeks. (but pay a whole lot more lol) ....

Geez, keep on them man. Have you considered reporting this situation to a business agency? forwarding the situation back to warwick and the music power?

Yes, If something doesn't happen soon I'm contacting the BBB.

I emailed whats going on to H.P. Wilfer (the owner of Warwick) about a month ago and received no response. I did put a thread on Warwicks forum and per the admin there, he exchanged some emails with Wilfer about it and directed me back to the US distributor.

As for the store i purchased through, Music Power, I feel they have done everything on their end and I have no problems with them. They were ready to correct it to the best of their abilities, and I don't hold them responsible.

If the distributor gave me accurate timeline, I would've gone through Music Power and avoided this entire disaster. As it stands, I have no instrument to return to them, as it went to the distributor in May.

Have you seen this thread?

Sometimes you need to find the right guy to talk to to make things happen. Unfortunately, I have no idea who that would be. :( Best of luck.

Wow, thanks for posting that. It's crazy to see this happening to other folks.

It is very encouraging to see his issue was resolved within days of posting on a forum. Granted, I've been posting for months without results, but I'm hoping that changes....

I will say this, I started with warwick back in 1995 and have owned a corvette (first warwick), streamer stage 1 and 2, thumb bass, streamer pro-m, and now I have a 2005 hot rod, and a custom corvette. Out of all of these basses I had 3 specific problems.

1. I ordered a Streamer Pro M and one of the pic- ups was inactive, whether it was wired wrong or the pick-up simply did not work. I decided to just swap it out for a streamer stage II that the store ordered for me and I was very happy with that bass

1. I ordered a Streamer Stage 1 and it had a huge bump in the neck, and when I went to put new strings on the nut fell off (the whole nut). I contacted the warwick service department and they told me just to super glue it on (which I did). I then tuned up the bass and it needed a major setup because of the bump in the neck (Fret work and such), so I ended up returning this bass to the store from where I purchased it from and they were nice enough to order me a new one.

3.When that new Streamer Stage I came in the electronics were wired wrong. Now all of these things were fixable but after dumping some serious cash and expecting standards that I had seen in the past from Warwick I was done at that point. So I returned that bass and purchased a Modulus.

The Modulus worked flawlessly no problems, and I played that for about 5 years. But I always just missed that wood warwick tone. So in 2008 I went back to warwick and purchased 2 basses that I still have, and believe that I will always have a warwick in the stable. Bottom line is that warwick makes a great bass and the sound is just too good to pass up; the best overall sounding basses that I have played in my opinion. They are human and their will be human errors. And While I can sympathize with you regarding the horrible run around that you are getting, I will promise you that you will love that corvette when it makes it into your hands.

Sorry for the rambling, and I hope that helps.

Thanks Johnson for posting... it does help.

I truly love the sound and feel of Warwicks; i've always did and wanted one for years.. and I still want one!

And in all honesty, although it was really stunk to get one in such poor quality, it happens; i laughed about it. Its the run around it that's making me a dissatisfied customer.

If I got an honest answer in May about when I replacement would ship, I would've exchanged the bass with the dealer I purchased through. Yes, it would stink that it probably wouldn't have been a Warwick, but having no bass for 4 months is way worse. Especially when I was scheduled to play 3+ weekends each month!

I'm just hoping something happens in the next couple days. If its not here for Labour Day Weekend I'll really be in a bind....
