New Warwick Rockbass Fortress

I have been waiting a lot of time for a lefty short scale decent bass and now my favourite brand has released one.
I am very happy.
I was at first thinking about buying the active Corvette Short Scale, but I will not be available for leftys until september.
My local shop says there is one passive lefty available.

My doubt here is:
Are the passive MEC pick-ups as good as the active ones?
If I buy the active model I would surely be changing the electronics, as I have read that the pick-ups are the real thing, but the preamp is not the same as the one in German models.

My concern is that maybe the passive pups are not as good as the active ones.

If somebody proves me wrong I think I would not wait until September and buy the pasive.

Please chime in

I've been happy with my rockbass with passive p-ups (see previous post for more details.) Through my Boss GT-6B it has plenty of punch! :)

The MIM Pbass deluxe plays as well as any bass i have played. The neck is great, but im not a fan of the electronics. They are pretty one dimensional. If I kept the one I had the pups would have been replaced for sure. You may want to consider that before purchasing one

just got myself a new warwick rockbass fortress 4 string 3 days ago...its the re vamped model with the warwick 2 piece bridge. it arrived about an hour before i set off for band rehersal so my fender jazz aerodyne was left behind and i headed off to band rehersal with my new toy. plugged in and was very surprised, lovely slap tone with both pickups running full tilt, nice jacoesque sound on the bridge pickup with the treble rolled off a little and then the precisiony sound from the neck pickup. now heres the thing...i have a german made warwick corvette (active 4 string) and the new fortress rockbass is right up there with it. build quality is excellent...really really excellent, love the sounds and it balances so well on a strap. i can safely say that this will be my main bass for a while..even the band members commented on how well it sounded. if it was stolen would i buy another ? in a heartbeat.
