Hi all
Im a relative newbie - having played accoustic finger picking blues style (badly) for a few years I ventured into the world of Bass a year ago with a Yamaha fretless and loved it - then got persuaded (?) into uprights and recently acquired a Bassix EUB which is great to play - but yet another challenge.
A year ago I realised how much I didnt know about music and having been a lazy tab follower lost the skill of sight reading from my earlier piano playing childhood.
Im now trying to kick the tab habit and focus on proper music and following a 19th century book of lessons written F.Simandl - and wow the exercises are great. Now I can see how and why so mant rock musicians are proud to claim they were classically trained.
Any tips on where to go and what to play on my latest venture would be all welcome - I like blues/jazz rock - rockabilly, soul, Jamerson, Toussaint etc.
Any tips on how to stop me wrecking my left hand would be gratefully recieved - its one hell of a stretch on an upright!!
