Double Bass New woods for a double bass !

Hi guys , iam osama from Egypt
iam asking for using the Ash wood for the back and ribs instead of maple , i think that will act as a good resonance for the top , more sustain will be released ..
what do you think ???

Ash sounds good, but has a tendency to split, so make sure it is really dry and leave it a bit thick.

Really I was thinking about that , also I am afraid of splitting due to grains , but it should be really thick because it's less dens than maple ..

Not too thick or it will sound crappy. Maybe 20% thicker than maple.
