The audition results haven't gone out yet. The last auditions were on March 22. I'm guessing the results will go out at the end of this week or the next week. I think there's at least 2 openings. I don't know anything for sure though.

I got my e-mail today, so I assume they all went out today. I was named a finalist and put on the sub-list. I'm not sure if actual offers are extended today. It says people will be offered fellowships in the coming days and months. I don't expect to get in because...I can't. I'm in the first year of my Master's degree, so this is the best thing that I could hope for. I'm happy to know I meet their standards.

You would be able to get in, you only need a bachelors. So no worries

Congrats. It'a always good to read this kind of good news. If the opportunity presents itself, it would be foolish to pass up a spot in New World Symphony to finish a Masters Degree. Any moron can get a Master's Degree in music. Only a select few (nowadays) can be in New World Symphony. You can always go back and get/finish a Masters Degree if you can't get a job (And it's nice to have that MM escape route in your pocket. Going into a MM program is the traditional way to save face if you can't win a job. And with your NWS experience in your pocket, you won't see yourself lumped in with all the others who are in a music graduate program for the wrong reasons).

Tristan "T-Bone" Sutton got one of the spots. I know that nws won't pull you from a program when you audition, would they allow you to leave mid year if a spot came open?

Thanks guys. My understanding, per their website which explicitly addresses this subject, and others I've spoken to, is that you must finish your current degree, no matter what it is, before being offered a fellowship.

Nah man, new world has nothing to do with your current college situation, the only real requirement is to have an undergrad degree. But good news to be a sub, it's one of the best gigs to get as a college player.

Heh, I'm not really sure what to say...On one hand I have past members telling me one thing, and the Dean and Director of Admissions, and the Symphony website, telling me the opposite.

They will not pull you from a degree program. So you can't be in the middle of a BM or a MM. If you are in a certificate program or a diploma thing then you can just leave school and go down there.
