New Year bass resolutions

- Sixteenth notes at 250bpm with my fingers. (~50-60 bpm faster than current max)
- Write several songs for my [power/prog metal] band.
- Get a dubstep project going.

Practice/study more theory and learn to sight read once and for all. I know the basics of reading.. but I don't practice it enough for it to have any real impact on what I do. I want to change that this year.
Break the current plateau... Just joined a progressive speed metal band. That will challenge me!
To actually play with other musicians.
Due to the usual roadblocks that life throws at each of us (work issues, personal and family matters, etc), I wasted the past two years waiting for my schedule to lighten. Then I realized that probably ain't gonna happen, so I might as well try to squeeze time for a band into my already hectic and stressful life. Wish me luck!

I am planning on NOT buying anything other than essentials (strings, cables, books)
Work on my sight reading
Dig deeper on my band's songlist and learn more of the basslines note for note. We tend to add songs on the fly in addition to the ones that get worked out ahead of time and there are some songs in our repertoire that I have not worked through!

-Forget patterns, learn the notes in the scale, learn the modes, play them anywhere.
-Work on sight reading above middle C. I get so lost up there at the moment!
-Start teaching or start some kind of dep work, hopefully in musical theatre.
-Sort out my cover band and actually start making some money!

-Keep going with youtube bass covers, at LEAST one a month.
-Aim to complete one bass transcription a month
-Work on learning to sing

This year to be a better songwriter I want to take guitar lessons....yes guitar, an instrument I really still have no care for. But I feel I need to learn how to get across better, and/or do some things myself (studio) as I have a completely different feel for what I hear. Already did the vocal lessons, and they helped immensely.
The other thing is the business end of things. I'm kinda getting tired and feeling a bit useless for letting and waiting for others to do band business.
