Back when COVID hit, it was the death toll for my old band. Our singer/songwriter/BL moved 3 hours away to weather the lockdowns, and our lives all kind of went their separate ways. Until yesterday.
A few days before xmas BL called and asked if I’d be interested in starting the band back up, as a low commitment once a month just for fun sort of thing. Said the drummer was already down. With all of us having progressed in life (kids, jobs, etc.), this sounded great to me. We met up New Year’s Day, jammed around for about 2 hours and left with 5 solid jams that could be turned into full fledged songs with a little more time. What a way to ring in the new year!
Sadly, in those middle years, the drummer and lead guitarist had a pretty hard falling out, so lead guitarist is not rejoining us at this time. Just going to enjoy it as a 3 piece for a while and see where it goes.
The goal is to maybe gig 2-3 times a year, and just have fun. For where I’m at in life, that sounds like a great arrangement to me.
Happy new year, all!
