New Zoom B1X Four $99

Like, I have B3 and MS-60B. And I would be interested in getting a more advanced pedal that would have some of the features of modern high-end pedals, like: parallel routing of FX; send/return loop; controlling ANY parameter with an expression pedal; better displays and so on. Of course that kind of pedal would be more expensive. And I'd gladly pay. But if you look at their releases for the past few years, it seems that they aren't even interested in going that way. Each of their releases is more of the "sameish" with pretty slow improvements.

Well... There are higher end options (Fractal, Line 6, etc). What is there to be pissed about...?

I'm really glad that Zoom is making these mostly excellent products available to us. the MS-60B is what got me into effects in the first place. The B3n is what I'm currently mostly using for practice (and often also rehearsal), so I'd say their products had and have a pretty good effect on my life so far. I don't think there are many companies I can say this about...

well maybe we would be a bit happier with a B5n and DI out for example. but seems bass products are an after thought at Zoom

Zoom makes good stuff. I have the b1xon as my home practice thing. I love that you can plug in headphones, and a phone for MP3s. Ive said for years this would really be pretty darn gig worthy with a metal box instead of the plastic. I'm not really gassing for this new zoom pedal, but am happy to see they finally did what they should have done in the first place, with that metal chassis. If they had put B3-quality DI with it that would have been game over.

I was looking for a headphone amp that can run on batteries. This looks like a much better option. It may even end up on my pedal board if the effects sound as good as everyone says. I have only found one demo video of this pedal. There isn't much info on in TB either. Post a link if you have seen any in depth reviews.

If you've heard a B3 or a B3N or an MS60b or a B1on you've heard this. Good effects, good sound quality, good tuner, ok rhythm box, decent looper, mostly lousy patches. I'm in for a preorder because I think it's a perfect gadget for home practice and some rehearsal situations.

I got mine this morning. Zoom UK have an eBay outlet and are selling these for £69 inc next day delievery. I dont think any of the main UK stores have them in yet.
Wont get a chance to plug it in until this evening. Its smaller than i thought it would be, but its really only for home use. This will replace my B1-on. I also have a B3n but never use it.
My shoe size is 11, so you can see how small this is.

I don't like carrying extra things around. If it's smaller and lighter I might get it just to get rid of the other pedals I don't use.

I'm not crazy at all about the sounds on the B3, but I'd use it if I didn't take up as much space as it does (I know its tiny, but not tiny enough for me :)). Are the guts in this new one essentially the same?

Yes, it's smaller but soundwise I think it's going to sound the same. I find little difference to me in this new software. Maybe it's better in the amp and speaker models with the impulse responses stuff but I don't use a lot of modeling so...

I think there are quite a few nice updates in how the B1 FOUR works.
For a start you have over all bass/mid/treble/master volume on those front knobs, so can be used without having to go in to any patches or menus.
Its a lot easier to turn individual effects within a patch on and off. You just hit the corresponding button. With the B1on its was a lot more involved.

The guts/tones are essentially the same as the B3n, which is an upgrade over the old B3, B1 and 60-B.
