Newbie from Kiel in Germany

Hello,
I've owned an Aria Pro II Bass that I bought because I wanted to have a bass back then since 1997 or so. But I never really got into playing. Last year I saw an ad that a band were looking for a bass player and I decided to jump into making music again, after 20 years of just having instruments (Guitars, Blues Harps, Keys...) lying around.
I am still a beginner who doesn't do much else than playing roots and fifths. We had a gig four months after I became a member of the band and as you can hear and see I am still learning the ropes (the vid has English and German subs. It is a song about the struggle with Alzheimer's that our singer wrote)
I've been using this site a lot for research, so I decided becoming a member is a good next step for me!

Welcome and congrats on your gig.

Here's some unsolicited advice: Alternate picking would go well with your singer's rhythm guitar part. Basically, pick the note you're playing up/down, up/down.

Check out what how this bassist is playing at 5:48 min.
