Newbie...I think?

Hi, I'm sure I've been here and made a few posts before?. Maybe last year, who knows. or maybe it was Talking Bass or something similar. I digress.
i thought the polite thing to do would be to do a short intro. So here goes.

My name is Steve, 50 something. Own hair and teeth, minus a couple of back ones. Never did like them anyway.
Mild-mannered 6 string guitar player by day, Crazy Lowender by night. or something like that.
From Scotland. Just above England and to the right of Ireland, Somewhere Below the North Pole. Planet Earth.

Just Picked the Bass up last year and can't seem to put it down. I had a long layoff on the guitar after a brain fart moment with an Axe nearly removed my nose-picking finger. Never picked the guitar up for around 3 years or more.

To be honest with you most of the layoff was mental over Physical. The finger had basically healed up within about 2-3 months but because I was experiencing some discomfort, and the finger was now fatter than normal where I cut into it, I just kept using that as an excuse not to get back in the saddle.

Anyway, I decided I wanted to learn Music again (for about the 4th time), Only this time instead of learning it on an instrument I was familiar with, the 6 string Guitar, I decided the best way for me to learn again, without feeling I'm going back to Nursery/Kindergarten, was to pick up another instrument.

The piano was out because Richard marks reminded me of my Ex-Wife, Not in looks or stature, She's way less feminine than Richard, That song, You know the one..where ever you goho, Whatever you do do dooby do, or something... she loved that song.

Bagpipes were out, I prefer not to inflict any more pain and suffering on this world and its inhabitants than it already deal with.

Soooo, i picked up the Bass.

I was familiar with strings, I was familiar with necks, and frets, and setups, etc. So why not. And I'm freakin loving it.

I somehow accidentally managed to blag a Music one-on-one Skype Lesson from Jeff Berlin very early on last year.
I'm utterly embarrassed to say I didn't even know Jeff Berlin was. When I found out just after we had made arrangements for the skype lesson I was blown away.

The nearer the lesson the more terrified I became until D-day, or should i say, B-Day arrived. But I had a fallback plan.

The plan involved throwing 1/3rd of a bottle of Macallan down my neck and smoking 10 rollups one after the other. And as if by magic, The fear was gone.

I was all Jeff this and Jeff that, laughing and joking around like a couple of old friends. And I think at one point I may have promised to take him and his wife to the best Indian restaurant when he was next in Glasgow. He said something about how he like Indian/Asian food.
Psssst, Truth is, I don't even know the best Indian/Asian restaurant in Glasgow. I think they all claim to be, "The best".

By the way, Jeff does a killer Ozzy impression...and he has the patience of a saint. Top man. I'm now over halfway through his Beginners Book and learning fast.

So that's enough about me. Hope you enjoyed the read.

Speak soon. I plan on hanging around.
Bass is my newfound passione :bassist:

Ciao, Steve.
