NEWBIE PLAYER.....

Welcome. A question like this would go better in the Basses subforum instead of amps, but I'll answer anyway...

I have one 5, I try to avoid using it at all costs :D but I am glad I have one and I did use it on a gig about a month and a half ago.

No, it's not bad to play at all, and they are still very popular and loved by many. But I don't do a lot of music that requires more than 4 strings, and I grew up on a 4 and played a 4 for 20 years before I ever owned a 5. But you can bet that if I played a lot of music that required a 5, I'd use my 5!

Yep, and it's not just theater and stuff like that requiring a 5. Plenty of bassists in all genres use 5's.
