Double Bass Newbie Purchase advice

Hi guys, I've been playing electric fretted for many years and am possibly about to make a foray into the world of the EUB.
I have been offered an Iganec EUB, made I believe in Poland, but any other info is scarce.
What should I look out for and what should I be aware of when looking at an EUB,

Good points, well made. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

However, I have some equipment surplus to my current requirements the I would be trading for this with no cash changing hands.

Just wanted to find out if anyone had heard of this brand, if its a dog or worth a go.

It LOOKS ok, but that dont mean much really.

Ergo. That is all you need to know. Go Ergo in an EUB and you will be as happy as you will ever be with an EUB.

As far as an EUB only being good for a backup to an acoustic double bass, from a point of view, I can see that. If you want an acoustic double bass, there is not replacing the real thing. If you want what an EUB does, like I did, getting an acoustic is no replacement. It is its own beast. When I went shopping for an EUB, I did so with a couple of wants in mind: Wanted to have the smoothness of an acoustic but, when I dug in, wanted it to have the growl and bite of an electric bass guitar. Found it in an Ergo. There are other great brands, but this one did it for me and my second one is in the planning and should be made in this upcoming batch from Jesse's shop.

Geez... I gave up my search for an acoustic double bass (I wanted to have an assortment of bass types)and sold all of my bass guitars once I really got into my Ergo. It is just the Ergo and me now.

Get an Ergo! JOOOOIIIINNNN USSSSSSS

That... and the customer service you will get with Jesse is just unbeatable..... just like his prices.

ooooh.... sorry. Missed this part. Never heard of it but that doesn't mean anything. Could be perfectly good.

Haha. I wish I was so involved. Honestly, Jesse and became friends through Ergo. Great fella. That is the extent of my involvement really. I help him with web stuff from time to time. But Ergo has one employee: Jesse. I am just a huge fan of what he produces and why. So, I help any way I can... and that is pretty much limited to spreading the word.
