Old, broken tone pot on my passive P bass copy says "250" - can l replace w/ one stamped "500"? Also, there's a flat, green something (?) soldered to the old pot - it's labeled "473K100V". Do l need to transfer it to the new "500" pot, or just keep looking for a "250" and transfer the little flat thing to it? Thaks VERY much for the help.

Ok. The "green thing" is the tone capacitor. It's probably a .047 UF capacitor. you could either use that one, or replace it with something better. Get a .047 Sprague Orange Drop Capacitor. Sound great.
As for the Pot, you can use a 500k if you want. just make sure it's an audio taper pot if it's the tone pot. 500k will make the highs come out moreso than the 250k pots would essentially making your p bass brighter sounding.

I'm presently playing a Gibson LP Money Bass that has a V/V/T set up & humbucking p/u's.
I'm considering changing the pots to a stacked V/T pot for each p/u, similar to the 62 jazz bass and adding a 3 way toggle for p/u switching.
Should I use a 500K/500k stacked pot for each p/u & tone ?
Any suggestions about this set would be greatly appreciated

Look at the existing pots for markings...either 250Kohm or 500Kohm. If you want the same sound you have at present, match the markings on the existing pots.
If you want to be REALLY daring, you could just run your pup through the volume pot and be done with it. Or wire it straight to the jack... life on the edge!!

I believe the stock pots are 500k for both p/u's and the tone, I can't see the #'s on the back of the pots due to the connections to tell, but Gibson usually uses 500k's on there basses and humbuckers.
