NFL 2019 Week #12

Yikes! 4th Qtr of the season! Rockwood Lodge

This is one of the matchups of the week - the 8-2 Pack vs the 9-1 49rs at Candlestick.....or, whatever it's called now.

Funny or not so funny story. Last west coast road trip where we lost to the Chargers, Pack flew out Friday before the Sunday game. Sunday they were flat, listless and uninspired. Many including Rodgers and the media blamed it on Friday and possibly Saturday night partying. So this trip, Packers practicing Saturday morning and getting in to San Fran late afternoon.

I think this game comes down to how Garopolo plays and he's been solid. And, how the Packers front 5 hold up against San Fran's D line.

Packer's give up way too many big plays, but have suprisingly limited the damage in those circumstances - sort of an extreme version of bend don't break. Personally, I consider it more luck than bend don't break.

I'm just not sure the Pack can hold up for 4 qtrs and I think the home field wins the day.

Jax vr Titans. Two teams seemingly going in opposite directions right now. The tape says the Titans should win a squeaker. I'm guardedly optimistic. The Titans always play their worst against division rivals.

24 - 20 Titans.

Tannehill and his red zone knack find a way to pull this out.

I think the rook has a big game. Gimme Brown for two TD's and being the chain mover along with Henry.

Eagles are favored over the Seahawks. I'm scratching my head a little over that one. I guess the perils of Pauline routine the Seahawks have been doing all season means that nobody thinks it can last. That may be true.

Looking at the rest of the Browns' season, you have to think they will win most of their games. Provided they don't melt down. I don't know what to think of them. I want to root for a resurgent Browns team, but these guys? They make it more difficult.

I'm not going to watch NFL football for awhile. The incident last Thursday still bothers me.
Then I saw Brooks for the Patriots lower his head and pop an Eagles receiver in the head Monday night.
Then I read a story on ESPN this morning about how the Dolphins cut a guy for punching his pregnant girlfriend. I thought that was a great move by the Dolphins. Then I read how the guy was arrested three times in three months earlier this year, got cut by the lowly Bengals, then the Dolphins signed him and while serving a four game suspension decided to try and beat up his girlfriend. It makes me sick to think dirtbags like this guy get jobs in the NFL.
It's better I give it a rest for awhile and just talk with you guys about the games.

I'm with you. The only reason that I'm watching football at all is that I'm the Editor-in-Chief of a sports website.

Does anyone think Dallas has a chance against the Patriots?

I'm a Cowboys fan and I think this Cowboys team has some legitimate talent. Unfortunately Garrett doesn't stand a chance against Belicheck.

I'm guessing the Patriots offense figures some things out.

The passing attack is no joke. Hollister seems like a revelation for Wilson. He's becoming one of Wilsons favorite targets ( which is why I have them both on my fantasy team :D )

Odd fact:

There are 37.01 miles from Hollister to Wilson in south direction and 44 miles (70.81 kilometers) by car, following the NC 43 route. Hollister and Wilson are 1 hour 2 mins far apart, if you drive non-stop. This is the fastest route from Hollister, NC to Wilson, NC.

Wilson seems to like throwing to reliable tight ends. Remember how much of a revelation Dissly was last season, and how he picked up right where he left off at the beginning of this season until he was injured again. I don't doubt he will be back next season. Dissly was supposed to be a blocking tight end, and he actually started his college career as a defensive lineman. What surprises me a little is that Wilson never seemed to click with Jimmy Graham, who should have been a favorite target as well. I'm sure it's some combination of things, including the fact that Hollister and Dissly are both tough, physical guys in a way that Graham, in spite of his size, never was. DK Metcalf has some of the same physicality, and he's becoming a favored target as well. Add in a burner like Lockett and the Seahawks receiving corps are not appetizers any more. Maybe they should be, though. The appetizers did pretty well.

Speaking of appetizers, I haven't looked at the numbers, so I don't know if Doug Baldwin had a HOF career or not. As a partisan homer, I hope he did. That's only based on wishes, not knowledege.

I usually don't root for the Cowboys. Ever. I'll be making an exception. I really don't root for the Patriots. Ever.

CINCINNATI—Promising the Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback that nothing would stop them from drafting him, the Bengals assured injury-prone Tua Tagovailoa Wednesday that he could have any of Andy Dalton’s organs. “We consider Tua to be an elite prospect, but if he has any concerns about the NFL next year, he needs to know that we are willing to sacrifice any part of Andy to make sure he stays healthy,” said Bengals personnel director Duke Tobin, listing not only Dalton’s hip bone but his kidneys and lungs as parts that are up for grabs. “I’d be lying if I said Tua’s history of injuries didn’t make us nervous, but I’m confident Andy has the healthy functional bones and organs to make this work. Ideally, we’d love for Tua to keep his arms, vision, and feet, but anything beyond that is fair game. We might even be able to arrange for a second heart if that helps.” Tobin added that Tagovailoa was welcome to anything else he might need from the rest of the team as the entire defense is scheduled to be thrown out this winter.

Antonio Brown has filed a counter suit against the woman (Britney Taylor) he alleged assaulted, claiming defamation of character. Maybe she was a gold digger, maybe she had ulterior motives when engaging in a sexual relationship with Brown. We'll likely never know for sure.
Still, how can anyone with a straight face make this comment, let alone believe it: "Taylor's acts have all but ruined Brown's career....".
