I don't think you can pin Holmgren's departure from GB solely on him... Wolf should've stepped aside instead of hanging around for a couple of listless drafts then forcing Mike Sherman on us. Holmgren wanted to assume GM duties, too, and he had just taken a team to two SBs, won one of them... it was really the time to strike. You don't get opportunities to do that very often. If Wolf was truly looking out for the best interest of the franchise, he should have done what was necessary to keep a very very good coach. Just my two cents...

I agree. I think Wolf wanted his legacy with the most storied franchise in pro sports firmly carved in it.

I can't really blame Holmgren for leaving, but all of the moving about renders the word "team" meaningless. Kind of like when your boss has a meeting and tries to make everyone feel like they're a "team". Yeah right...team my ass. RAH-RAH up someone else's.

There are too many facts wrong in this post to argue about. Baltimore does not hate Indy, just Irsay. I was 13 when Irsay flat out lied to the city that he was not moving the team. He then packed up everything in Mayflower vans and left for Indy in the middle of the night.
Anyway, without him doing that, the Browns would not have moved here and the city would not have had a championship in the last 30+ years. We instead would have been stuck with a team that can't win the big game. So I guess it is a win for everybody.

Well, I guess it's a tale of two cities. That is how I remember it from the Indy news media. I was a whopping 14yo at the time. I'm sure the media in Baltimore was just the opposite.

That last part you posted just goes to proving my point. You guys don't like the Colts still even though old man Irsay is dead and gone. It isn't the same team with his son running things. Do you guys hate him too? When ever the Colts and Ravens play the Baltimore press goes nuts. Don't tell me they don't because even the NFL shows talk about the animosity. Maybe it isn't as much as it used to be but I know some still feel that way. If they didn't, why keep bringing up the fact that they moved. Geez, it has been over 20 years now. Let it go people.

BTW, I don't hate Baltimore. The Ravens were one of my favorites when Irsay screwed Ted Marchibroda (who was loved in Indy) after the '95 season. I rooted for them during this period and was really happy to see Goose (an Indy fan favorite still) get a ring.

The animosity comes from losing our name, colors and even our records. It is for Irsay and the NFL for the screwing they gave us. It is for seeing Baltimore Colts like, Johnny U, Raymond Berry and Artie Donovan being associated with the Indy organization. Even though we were accused of "stealing" the Browns, Cleveland kept everything and was promised and given a team in 2 years time. Baltimore went without the NFL for 13 years.

The city of Indy and their fans are not hated by us, it was not your doing. The best comparison I can make would be your favorite bass being stolen from you, then you having to see it every weekend being played by someone else.
