NFL Week 12

The roughing call was terrible. I wasn't really paying attention to the other calls you guys are talking about though. In any case, Cheeze is right, not taking advantage of turnovers was the name of the game. When you go on the road and leave points on the field, you're probably going to lose.

Had Hasselbeck not come out covered in rust, this one could have been really ugly, considering the ease with which Alexander ran all night long. If the Seahawks start firing on all cylinders, they could be a pretty dangerous team come playoff time.

Considering that Hass threw 4 INTs, and that snow is more of the Fudgies element than the Hags, the Packers should have won the game regardless of the calls.

But the Fudgers lost and I'm happy, so who gives a $h1t.

I was just looking at the standings, and the Packers actually HAD a chance at a Wildcard spot. MIN, STL, SF, PHI and ATL are 5-6 which is only behind wildcard frontrunners NYG and CAR by one game.

Wow, the Pack had a chance but they blew it. I'm extra happy now. A Favre injury would have topped it all for me.

I made it home from the game! It doesn't snow much up here, and never this early. The drive home was horrible.

On to the game.....that was great. It was cool to see Favre out there throwing the ball all over the field right down to the very end. Just what I wanted to see. For some reason, the Packer defenders took the second half off, and forgot how to tackle. I think the Packers could have won otherwise.

Oh well. Thanks for the great game Bret.

As much as I didn't like the elder Irsay, don't blame him. Baltimore didn't really want the Colts back then and the history that went with them.

If you want to keep a team you have to keep them competitive in the market. It is a business after all. The stadium they had was run down and compared to teams like the 49'ers and the Cowboys, the Colts were the bottom feeders (financially) of the league.

Indy was wanting a pro team and was willing to give the Colts what they wanted, needed, and deserved. Baltimore can hate us for as long as they want. We love the Colts and we are not giving them back! :p

There are too many facts wrong in this post to argue about. Baltimore does not hate Indy, just Irsay. I was 13 when Irsay flat out lied to the city that he was not moving the team. He then packed up everything in Mayflower vans and left for Indy in the middle of the night.
Anyway, without him doing that, the Browns would not have moved here and the city would not have had a championship in the last 30+ years. We instead would have been stuck with a team that can't win the big game. So I guess it is a win for everybody.

That's true. But there's also no doubt that crappy roughing call potentially changed the outcome. Packers were down by 3 at that point and that incompletion would have forced a punt, giving the Pack a chance to tie or go ahead. Not that they would have, but they wouldn't have been in a 2 minute offiense like they were forced to after the seahawks TD. That call had a profound impact on the potential outcome of the game at that point.

Anyway, I thought the youngest team in the NFL did OK against one of the best teams in the NFC. Favre was really trying to force things in the end, like last year and that hurt.

I guess it all evens out. The Seahawks got the most atrocious officiating called in their favor (must have been trying to make it up to Holmgren for the Super Bowl f-ups).

That "roughing" call was a great play...I mean textbook kind of play by Jenkins. That callwas total BS.

Hey, the Pack blew their chances earlier when they were in scoring range, so it's not like that call blew the game, but that call had the look of a game being bought. THAT's how bad of a call it was. It kind of reminded me of the BS "non" call agains tne 49ers in the playoffs that one year, when Rice clearly fumbled and the Pack recovered, but they ruled him down, and then later Owens caught the game winner on that same drive.

That's how pissed I am about that call last night.

OK...I feel better now. Well, no I don't at all.

Oh..I'm still pissed that Holmgren left. Jesus, he could have stayed on longer and took over for Wolf. That is one thing I really hate about the NFL these days...no f*king loyalty to anyone anymore...not from the coaches, players, owners, none of them. Everyone's interchangable now. It's the musical chairs league. Actually it's Fantasy League becoming reality. Sick.

I think I'll quit watching football after this year. I grew up watching the Packers. I saw the Ice Bowl. I've watched pro football deteriorate into a hollow, empty business devoid of character. Once Favre's gone, I'm done with it. I'd rather watch my kids play high school football than this BS TV production. I'm just going to enjoy Favre's last year...because it's mine too.

Poor sportsmanship? like a certain lineman from a certain team that picked up a certain QB and slammed him on the turf causing an injury? ;)

It's all tongue in cheek, brother. If a 10 years of 300 lb lineman that run 4.5 40s can't knock him out, then words of mine are futile. Anyway, we all know that Favre plays better when hurt. So it's my back-asswards way of wishing the Packers well for future games. :D

+1 Farve does seem to play better when he's "hurt".

I remember that game when McMahon threw a int. and waaay after the play was over the DL I think his name was Charles Martin (who btw had a towel hit list with diffrent Bears players #'s on it ) body slammed him and he got a bruised kidney.
AHH the good ole days of Ditka and Gregg they really hated each other and the teams played like it.:D

I feel the same, although I will not stop watching football. Every year, the Steelers lose two or three guys to free agency. It makes me sad.

I don't think you can pin Holmgren's departure from GB solely on him... Wolf should've stepped aside instead of hanging around for a couple of listless drafts then forcing Mike Sherman on us. Holmgren wanted to assume GM duties, too, and he had just taken a team to two SBs, won one of them... it was really the time to strike. You don't get opportunities to do that very often. If Wolf was truly looking out for the best interest of the franchise, he should have done what was necessary to keep a very very good coach. Just my two cents...

I went through a period where I didn't watch much football at all a couple of years ago... just wasn't that interested... loved the sport, but found it hard to follow all the changes every year... I remember I went home some time during Sherman's first season and my dad and I were watching the GB game and I was like "Who the hell is Mike Sherman?"

I dunno though, a game like the Titans comeback against the Giants this past Sunday is a perfect example of what I truly missed not following the game for a couple of years. It's still the best game in the world, so much inherent drama (which makes that dreck that TV uses to pump up the games seem so sacharrine, so artificial -- you want drama? it's a 260lbs linebacker barrelling down on a runner trying to stretch it to the sidelines). And the fact that any team can still work as a team (despite any perceived mismatches in talent) and beat anyone else in the league... it's still a team sport, and a team can't have success without playing as a team... you've got to reign in those egos if you want to go to the dance.
