NFL Week #17

I remember last year that a lot of these NFL threads started early, and I wanted the honor of starting one, so in order to get in on time, I needed to start the week #17 thread. So, who do you like?

Dallas has the #1 seed locked up at 15-0, and the only question is if they'll play the starters to go for 16-0. I can't believe that both Marion Barber and Felix Jones both have 2,000 yards and 30 TDs each, and Romo has thrown for 6,000 yards and 60 TDs. Amazing. Plus, with Witten having 130 receptions, it's been a great year. And, all in 15 games.

Funny.

:)

My take on the Cowpatties is that they'll be closer to 0-15 than 15-0 by week 17.

:smug:

My boys, heading into week 17 (serious answer): 13-2, heading for 13-3 because they'll have the bench on the field. Brees won't have another 5K passing season in his sights, because the three-headed-monster (Pierre Thomas runs over you, Reggie Bush runs around you, Mike Bell stomps you into a paste) will give us a solid rushing attack to go with the scariest passing attack in the NFL in the past 20 years. On D, the GW experiment pays off, some opposing offenses may pad their yardage stats a bit because of the style of play, but they rank in the top 5 for points allowed and turnovers, both. Combine that with the offense, and you have something special - keep giving the O the rock they score, keep the O on the field, the other team doesn't score.

The AFC West is the official joke of the league now, and look for the Broncos to take over for the hapless Raiders as the basement floor lickers of the division. Down and out in Denver.
Despite absolutely LOVING the city, I lost all interest in the Broncos after Shanahan was let go. The fact that McBelicheck is there doesn't help either. :scowl:

Dumbest move this offseason: Broncos firing Shanahan.

:scowl:

...just unfathomably stupid.

All the rest of the rigmarole in Denver is directly related back to that one stupid move.

They will be ALMOST as bad as Oakland. I still say Oakland is vying to set a mathematically impossible record of going 0-18 in a 16 game season...

;)

I blame owner Pat Bowlen for very uncharacteristic and misguided loss of control and emotional venting. Firing your two-time Superbowl winning coach, then not having the diplomatic or negotiating skills to hang on to your franchise QB, and then hiring Little Bill (does he HAVE to wear the same god-awful sweatshirt?)??? Three strikes, baby, and the Broncos won't be right for a long, long time.

True.

I think you meant "...watch the Steelers lose their chance for #7 against the Saints..." PUNK! :smug:
Untrue.

Meh...unless something changes, the NFC West is still the joke of the league. Despite the rest of the division being terrible, at least the AFC West has one contender.

If that contender (I assume you mean the Chargers) can keep it's star players outta trouble w/the law long enough to take the field and win a few games.

Quite frankly, after these past few years I'm losing interest in the National Felon League. Godell is a joke... I mean c'mon, Calvin Pace gets a 4 game suspension for taking a supplement that was legal last season but gets banned this season, but Shaun Ellis breaks the law for drug possession and Mike Vick runs a felony dog fighting ring and they get suspended 2 and 3 games respectively?!?! Yeah, that makes sense Roger... nice job man.

I'll still be watching my Jets tho to see if Rex Ryan can make all that defensive talent (Kris Jenkins, David Harris, Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Darelle Revis, Kerry Rhodes) translate into wins, and to see if Mark Sanchez is the real deal or just a kid from Cali who entered the draft @ the right time and got lucky.

Perhaps your disappointment might be better directed at national sports media and the general public that fuel the negative headlines. Remember that each team has 53 players. With 32 teams, that's quite a number of players. Those that keep their nose clean, those that are regular, upstanding citizens don't get reported. Those that are actually charity-working, positive forces in their community probably even outnumber the felons, and I would guess by quite a bit. Probe deeper, there's much to enjoy in sports.
