NHL 2013 regular season thread!

Stick a fork in 'em. Giving up a 4-1 lead like that was pathetic. They let off the gas pedal after the 1st period, and they should know better. I was beginning to feel pretty good about their playoff chances; but now I don't think they will. Voracek looked good again though...

These games are getting insane. My gf wanted to turn it off after the first period. I told her, are you kidding? This is a Pens Flyers game! The score could be 8-4 Pens after the second period!

I'm not even sure what to make of this game? Flyers came out and kicked the Pens ass for 20 minutes, then the Pens kicked their ass for 20 minutes, then we had 20 minutes of balanced hockey.

OK, I admit it. I watched the PIT/PHI game last night. Something is different about this 2013 Flyers team. They don't seem to have that same edge they played with last season. Something is different about the Penguins too. Usually they run away and hide when they get beat up the way the Flyers did to them in the first period.

Or, I could be totally off base and this is just what happens in an intense rivalry game like PIT/PHI. You guys have seen more games than me this season, so let me know if my observations are accurate or not.

Oh....I'm going to the PHI/BOS game on Saturday, then driving three hours north to game two between Harvard and Dartmouth in Hanover.

Voracek looked awesome and you can tell he acutally cared seeing as he broke his stick on Fluery's cage as soon as the buzzer sounded to end the game. Then again, I'd be pissed to if I scored 2 goals and played my heart out to blow a 4-1 lead.

Entertaining? Absolutely.

But this has been the Flyers this year, when you grab a lead you CAN'T STOP PLAYING. :scowl:

I don't know if I'd say the Flyers let off the gas. I thought it was more like the Pens finally found their game. I thought that first period was an absolute anomaly. 18 shots in the first period? That was nuts. Pens D was horrible, that elbowing call on Neal was a joke and Flyers were getting all the bounces. Second period Pens finally settled down, got their share of lucky breaks and really tightened up their D.

Voracek is a beast. I would love that guy if he were on my team. Anyone see the video of Giroux crying after the loss? ;)

That was ugly last night. Hartnell said it best after the game. Flyers can't expect to win when they play 20 minutes of a game followed by that crap. No lead is safe in the NHL anymore.

They shouldn't be LOOKING for a safe lead. They should play hard, merciless hockey for 60 minutes ESPECIALLY against the Pens. I hate them but they're talented, under estimating them was mistake enough but in a rivaly like that you should keep crushing them even if its 14-1.

Its been hours and a full nights sleep since the game and honestly I've never been so pissed about hockey, including when Kane scored on them to win the cup 2 seasons ago.

No lead is safe when it comes to Pens-Flyers but in the rest of the league scoring is down.

Not many teams lose with 4 goals, so that is a tough one for the Flyers.

Bruins got back on the right track with a 4-2 win over Toronto. Khudobin was solid in net and Seguin and Krejci are starting to find their scoring touch. Fraser got the better of McQuaid in the one fight, but I'll take the win in the game over a win of the fight.

Add Toronto to the list of teams that have added some grit and physical play to their arsenal and are playing solid hockey.
