I read about the Kracken winning a game in this morning's newspaper. I didn't know they were having games yet. Apparently it didn't count, but they won anyway. Looks like I'm going to have to learn about hockey that isn't played on a pond or flooded cornfield without pads now.
I'm eagerly anticipating @MJ5150 will start the usual NHL season thread here in a week or two when the season begins. But in the meantime, there are still a couple RFAs and trade candidates that haven't made the move.
The Eichel situation is becoming a joke, unfortunately not a very funny one to anyone involved. (My take: It's HIS neck and HIS future (long after hockey), let him pick the procedure. Kevyn Adams and the Sabres are looking like childish idiots the longer this drags on.)
Tarasenko looks like he'll stay in St. Louis for the foreseeable future.
And for whatever reason, Ottawa and Brady Tkachuk can't seem to work out the structure of his next contract. Senators don't do big signing bonuses, and BT evidently wants one. Not a great reason to hold out, IMHO.

As far as the Sen's go, well Eugene doesn't like to pay either but they do have Tkachuk tied up for a while I believe, so either he signs or he sits. Either way, I don't think Brady is going to fill the seats in Ottawa anyway, so no loss from an ownership point of view.

I don't think the sabres will be exciting this year, regardless of what happens with Eichel. So, I'm not paying too much attention.
I'm excited to see Seattle play.
I'm interested in seeing how all the teams that made it to the 2nd round last year, do this year.
Particularly the Islanders, the Avs and mostly the Canadians.
I'd still like to see the Avs or Islanders win it.
I know Tampa is always a contender, but it gets boring seeing the same team win it too many times in a row.
