NHL Playoffs

Detroit or Anaheim out of the West vs. Buffalo in the East.

If Detroit makes it, they get the cup, if Anaheim makes it, Buffalo gets the cup. The toughest round for Detroit, imho will be the first against Calgary, though Hasek if he doesn't dive, equalizes Kiprusoff, and Zetterberg with a healthy Datsyuk is going to be potent tandem. Look for Kyle Calder to be the unsung trade deadline pickup to pay HUGE dividends (he'll do more than Bertuzzi, imho, and I'd have said that before Bert had the concussion)

Go Calgary! Too bad Edmonton and the leafs (what a turnout) aren't there my other two favorite teams. I like the penguins but have to cheer for Ottawa. I despise the canucks, but don't like the stars even more. Go Atlanta against the Rangers, go Minnesota over Anaheim, go Nashville against San Jose and go New jersey over Tampa.
Also notice that Montreal isn't one of my favorites even though i'm from there. Well I lived in Toronto at first then moved to Montreal. I liked the Canadians at first but then after a while getting called such&such and people saying Toronto sucks just because I'm a leafs fan I decided I now despise the Canadians.

leafs got screwed over...go raptors go...ya htats right NBA!!!

I'm a pretty strong Leafs fan, but the only team they should blame is themselves. Some Leafs fans blame it on the fact that Brodeur was given the night off against NYI. They messed up once too often in later regular season games (the 5-4 come from behind victory by Buffalo for instance).

I forgot to mention who I'd like to see succeed in the playoffs. I'm not sure who I like in the East, but I'd like to see the Canucks do well in the West. I'd like seeing Luongo prove he's a playoff goalie in his first year in.

I'm calling it right now.

Because my brother's been a Penguins fan since the early Lemieux/Jagr days and I've been a Wings fan since around 94-95, we've been to three Red Wings Championship parades, and we really REALLY miss that thick, heated sibling rivalry. We need to attend games both here AND in Pittsburgh. And yes, we'll most certainly wear ALL our hockey gear to the games like last time, cuz that was too much fun. Even though the Red Wings fans at the Joe were ruthless, they loved his goalie mask which I painted the Pens logo perfectly on the sides. We spent more time pretending to play hockey in the concourse, than we did watching the game! GOD I miss those days... it's been a loooong time since the Penguins were a powerhouse, it feels real good right now.

BUF>NYI
NJ>TB
NYR>ATL
OTT>PIT

CAL>DET
ANA>MIN
VAN>DAL
SJ>NAS

Of course the only series anyone really gives two damns about in the first round are the Ott/Pit series and every west series except Van/Dal which looks like it's shaping up to be some of the worst hockey (excluding the way the devils play) of the year.

Well.. there were a lot of key games.. If they hadn't lost to the Rangers 7-2 last Sunday.. that was pretty key. If they hadn't let Buffalo come back from a 4-1 deficit to win 5-4.. that was pretty key and a pretty good example of the Leafs piece of **** season in general.

Here we go again... I love the NHL playoffs. Everyone else is talking about basketball or baseball, to which my response is always "Oh yeah? Let's see 'em do it on ice."

Kserg, nice new avatar! Mean is good.

I'm a pretty strong Leafs fan, but the only team they should blame is themselves. Some Leafs fans blame it on the fact that Brodeur was given the night off against NYI.

The Leafs fans I've spoken with all seem to recognize two things. First, they had their shot in that last game vs the Islanders and got buried. Second, Clemmenson did a fine job for the Devils. Even as a Devils fan I honestly can't say Marty would have done any better.

But I do think it's cheesy for a playoff spot to be determined by shootout. And not for nothin' but Brodeur wouldn't have broken Bernie Parent's record without the shootout wins. Flyers fans must be really steamed, and rightly so.

BOOOOOOO new rules!

I don't follow the Western conference. In the East I think the Pens/Sens series will be the best 1st round series and most interesting to watch. I pick winner of this series to be the dark horse favorite to win the East.

The Devils always have a hard time vs Southeast teams. I blame it partly on lousy ice in every southeast arena. But the way they've been playing lately, I'm not looking any farther ahead. And what's up with Lou? This is the 3rd time he's fired the head coach right before the playoffs. Nobody's gonna want that job next year.
