It's a long clip, but except for the guy saying the JP Sig s neckthrough, it is pretty good, IMO.

This thread interests me because I once owned a Ken Smith 6 and a TRB6.

Although I guess in my heart of hearts, I am more of single coil Jazz tone sort of player, both of those basses sound great to me. Frankly, I am a sucker for a big humbucker too. Ken Smith, Music Man, G&L, Sadowsky Moderns all sound great to me!

The Yamahas actually have slim dual coils so the noise wasn't 60 cycle hum. It was the treble control on the preamp. Notice when he turned it down the noise went away. Not sure if the noise was produced when the treble was set flat or boosted though.

Probably when boosted, my Yamaha TRB5II can get pretty harsh when the treble is cranked.

I used to own the JP I sig bass and the preamp could get noisy if you started boosting the highs on the EQ. That said, I think if I could get that same bass in a five string it would probably be the only one I would own.
