Nightmares

I usually don't have nightmares, but I will (semi) regularly have dreams where bad things happen to me (like having to re-take all of my college courses from a technicality, excessive financial troubles, or being thrown in jail for something strange). When I'm having a good dream, I seem to notice it whilst dreaming somehow choose to wake myself.

On a funnier note, my sister called me several months ago because she had dreamed that I was hurt or killed, and she wanted to make sure I was ok...but she didn't call until several days afterwards.

I used to have nightmares when I was a kid. But they were different than most of the ones described here. I'd wake up fresh as a daisy and go have breakfast. While eating my parents would tell me that during the night I was screaming. And not just yelling. I'm talking screaming because my life is in danger screaming. My mom came running into my room and saw what was going on. She said "Chris, what's wrong?" *grumble "Go back to sleep, Chris." And then I'd go to sleep.
Another example would be my mom would tell me in the morning that during the previous night I was doing something. In one instance I was pounding and punching holes in my bedroom door. Another time I was dragging my sheets down the hall and said that I was "Looking for poison". Another time I stood in front of my closet and opened and closed the door until my mom heard the noise and came to investigate. Each time she'd tell me to go to bed and that would be the end of the ordeal. I've grown out of these apparently. But I still do talk in my sleep, it's almost always nonsense and when people don't understand the nonsense, I get angry at them for not knowing what I mean. Then I go back to sleep.

In the second grade I had a dream I was flying in a small passenger plane in a storm at night, and the right engine was struck by lightening. When this happened, the plane rolled over and went straight down into some valley/city, however, I got sucked out of my window seat as it rolled and saw the plane plumet down toward the ground as I fell behind it. I presented this to my class for 'show & tell', and ended up elaborating on it and turning it into a short book as a school project. I still have it somewhere.

Here's my dream from yesterday/morning:

I'm in this dull looking 'starwars-ish' series of rooms in a hallway. I can see it's very stormy outside. I'm trying to get into, or see something in one one of these rooms. Then I get to a more open area of this hallway and see that all the stormy clouds are actually evil spirits funneling into some giganto tub far off in some desert area controlled by some evil dude, but then as I finally get into one of these rooms, another evil looking dude on a motorcylce powered by two evil looking horses starts coming for me...

I've included an image of what I remember.

On a similar note, has anyone ever slept on their hand, in such a way that you end up cutting off the circulation? I did this once. I woke up in the middle of the night grabbing this hand, when I relized there was no one else in bed with me, I suddenly thought it was some severed hand and was JUST about to freak out screaming when I relized it was my own hand! :D

I had sleep paralysis on a fairly frequent basis when I was younger. The only part of my body I could really move was my head, so I'd start shaking it from side to side until I was really awake.

I haven't had a nightmare in a while, although I have been having lots of ski-related dreams lately... now that the summer's just starting. :scowl:

i dont have many nightmares, but i get crazy freakin dreams a lot. the worst one i can remember was like me and the teenage mutant ninja turtles running through the sewers. then i look at myself in a mirror and i magically turn asian (im white). the turtles grab me and knock me out, and i wake up in a rice field. theres a huge ass buff black dude stading there with a whip and he starts beating me with it and telling me to work. i pick up a ho and say yes massa. just then ben stein parachutes down and hits the black guy with a rocket launcher. he gets into a sports car and drives off, but a giant crab with the face of al gore explodes in front of him. the car and the crab fight and then i wake up.

and no i didnt make that up

ive also had dreams of my entire school turning into a war zone because a neighboring school invaded. there were helicopters and med tents and everything, vietnam style. i wont go into specifics but it was really realistic. and it was a recurring, continuing dream. there was like a new chapter every night. i started looking forward to sleeping, but they ended abruptly, and i never got to figure out what was happening.

So I get myself out of bed, and go to touch it. As my hand approaches the cat I am still utterly perplexed as to this whole situation, whereupon my hand reaches it's body and the cat turns into a pile of clothing.

Had you taken any sleeping pills? The active ingredient, diphenhydramine or some variant, will cause such hallucinations.

I had a dream about snakes the other day, and i was told when u dream about that. It means that someone will betray you. Turns out later on that the girl was as dating all of a sudden cheats on me and leaves. So when she told me that she was leaving. I didn't didn't take it so bad and was sort of expecting it from the dream. I also notice that something was wrong and went ahead and found someone else who is 20 billion times a better woman than her. I have good dreams about her. I hope those come true.

" I was told there a new love thats born for each one that has died" lol.

I've had this happen. Woke up in the morning, and felt this strange hand on my chest. Freaked out of course, and threw the hand off, which ended up smacking into the wall. When feeling returned to my hand, damn did it hurt.
