Rodgers turned 73 on September 19.
Honoring one of the greatest musicians I know of and one of the most influential musicians in history. According to Wikipedia, albums produced by Nile Rodgers have sold over 750 million copies.
It never fails that I see Nile and think of Bernard , Tony, and Alva and Luther . Gone too soon. 
Niles is saying a lot in this video. I watched the entire interview a few years back.
He knows how to get his sound and doesn’t deviate from the that. We can liken it to Marcus and his jazz bass sound, Jaco and his jazz bass sound, Bernard Edwards and his StingRay sound, Louis Johnson and his StingRay sound, Paul Denman and his StingRay sound. I’ve seen all of these players try other guitars and basses for a short period of time . But one thing they have in common is they always come back to the instrument that gets their sound.
I have taken note and this is why I have multiples of variations of the same bass. It works for me.
I noticed the same thing about Prince. He used multiple guitars, but he always came back to that Hohner Tele and had copies made as backups .
This doesn’t work for everyone as some need and prefer different sounds and instruments for variety. Whatever works for you is the best option always .
I think the key is that whether a person uses only one type of guitar or bass, or uses different models, the good or great musician’s goal is the music itself and not owning a collection of instruments.
Great talent, sound, songwriting, producing. Glad he survived his cancer and found that pursuing music is the greatest joy in his life. I think he already knew that, but decided to pursue any opportunity that came up since life is short. Greatly admire all his work.
Can’t think about Nile without thinking about Bernard Edwards. Wish I could play bass like him. Shame he died so young.
