I've been having a love-hate relationship with how my bass sounds to my IEMs and FOH. It sounds "good enough" but it doesn't have the same properties that it does acoustically. When I was running Zyex, that wasn't any huge deal because the Zyex sounded really nice through the Fishman Full Circle. Now that I am running Velvet Garbos with an Anima G, however, the bass sounds incredible acoustically. Big, husky and punchy. I love it SOOOO much. The only thing I could think to do was to get a mic.

While the War Department was having some dental work done, I needed to kill some time, and I swung into the local mom/pop music store and asked about mics. We discussed some options that were reasonable, as well as some that definitely weren't, and then the Audix i5 came up. Picked it up along with a Cab Grabber (which is now known as a Bout Sprout), and brought it home, unheard, and unmounted.

Low and behold after hooking it up, I listened to it and … … … THERE'S MY BASS! According to my guy at the store, the i5 has an excellent gain to feedback ratio, and I'm really looking forward to trying it out with the whole band.

And now, because "pics or it didn't happen" …
