Has been here for almost a week now but I figure it's time to make it TB official. This came from Sound Guitar Works (formerly Best Guitar Parts) and is a 32" conversion neck.

Specs are:
  • Roasted maple wood
  • 1.625" nut width
  • 0.83" thickness at 1st fret
  • 7.25" radius
  • Vintage frets
  • Only 1.7 lbs!
Will be installing on a Warmoth Dinky J body. That's still about a month out.

Since it's roasted, I'm considering leaving it unfinished. Otherwise I may try an oil finish of some sort.

I am doing a similar project in 32 inch scale with all Warmoth parts and a reverse headstock so I have more choice of strings. As I do, having other project instruments with unfinished necks when acquired, I do suggest you put a few coats of tung oil on the neck to preserve it from wear. I keep it on hand to touch up finish wear as needed. Link for description: Specialty Finishes

I agree with oiling the neck. I personally moved from tung oil to Tru Oil because it requires less touching up in my experience and feels about as nice, but there's certainly nothing wrong with tung oil.

I had great results with my BGP/SGW roasted maples necks using Duracoat DuraOil Danish Oil. After oiling, buffed them out using MicroMesh 6000, 8000, 12000 and they feel great.

I really like BGP/SGW's work. Their '63 carve is really nice for guitars. Inexpensive graphite stiffeners. Made some nice bodies for me as well. Highly recommended.

I did the body below in Danish oil as well. Nice natural feel.
