So I'm building yet another bass, and my friend gave me a couple pots and a cap, and he said the cap is a .047 "no-load" capacitor. Does anyone know about these? What's the difference between the no load and a standard cap?

When a schematic says "no load" for a component, they mean that spot should be left empty--do not "load" anything into those holes. A "no load capacitor" is a space where a capacitor is left out!

Material aside, a capacitor is a capacitor - it stores charge.
He might have been referring to the potentiometer. There are a few "no load" pots that, when turned all the way up, are supposed to completely remove the capacitor from the signal. A "no load" capacitor simply doesn't make sense.

Yeah, I've never heard of such a thing, and it sounds ridiculous.
