No love for the GWB1005?

Keep your eyes open. I just bought a used GWB105 but it was actually a GWB1 from 1999! I just didn’t care for the thin neck so I returned it. Amazing shape though. The hunt for a fretless continues.

I just got quotes for a custom singlecut fretless from Manne and Maruszczyk for under $4000. I think theres only so much you can pay before there’s no added quality per cost. If money was no option, I’d still be looking elsewhere than the GWB1005

MSRP in 1999 was $1899 and an extra $139 for the case.

May I ask you what was asking price fot GWB1?
I am looking now at one 2002 GWB1 and find the price ridiculous(2000€). Sorry but it's not Stradivari violin. Stradivari is long time dead, hence the price!
My quote, for an excelent Meridian 5 fretless is 3000 new!!! and very likely candidate.
As you said, hunt continues.
IMHO Ibanez has to rethink a few things, because however much I'd like GWB1005 it is the very last on my list.
