Odd that in 40 posts hardly anyone has actually tried it. I've been using this stuff for years.
First thing to say is that we all have different experience with strings and how long they take to go dead. It all depends on the chemistry of our sweat. Etienne Mbape's finger sweat is so acidic he has to wear gloves to avoid his strings going dead in a couple of days. Other people never seem to have a problem (and, obviously, "ladies" don't sweat, they merely glow a little!)
I seem to be about average and my bass guitar strings used to last 6 months or so before their deadness annoyed me and my double bass strings maybe about a year. The E string on my double bass is usually the first to lose its tone.
Since I got some much better results after coating with DR Stringlife I now coat every string and let it dry for 24 hours before putting the strings on my bass. Bass guitar strings now last a year or so and I'm just swapping off a decent-sounding set of double bass strings after 4 years because I want to see how much difference new strings will make.
So, whatever the marketing nonsense is, I assure you that this product works great for me.
I suspect DR don't push it much because if we all use it they'll sell less strings.
