No PA support....Eden enough?Hours away from buying...

I think for basic bar gigs, a 4x10 is way more than enough, too much for me. Seriously, if you're a "working class" bass player playing small to medium sized bars I'd say a 4x10 is too big. I think a 300 watt amp into a good 4ohm 1x15 would be perfect. I use a 2x12 600 watt amp set up and I like it, but I don't ever get close to pushing it very hard. Classic rock band, we play a good solid loud but not crazy loud. Sure it's nice to have the extra until you drag it around everywhere and realize that you never need it.
 
GK MB212 for me. 500w and 37lbs....plenty loud (and light!)

I gig with a bar band but almost always have PA support. I never run my rig above 9:00 for stage volume and my both my guitarists run 1/2 stacks. I am pretty sure that my rig would handle no PA support, however i haven't had to test that yet...
