No reason why a 34" bass cannot have a good B string

This thread is blasphemous! I've been brainwashed by TB to believe that in order to have a tight B the bass must be at least, let's say, 48" scale on the B side.

My 32" is as punchy and tight as I need anyway.

You definition of "punchy and tight" might not be the same as someone else's.

All designs are a compromise - the builder optimizes based on the compromises they think are acceptable and what they think/know their customer wants.

I use a 132 on my Fender Jazz V, and it's solid.
It doesn't have the clarity of the B on my Spector Rebop with a 125, though.

Do you think that it could also be attributed to the different pick ups, pre amp, bass design (neck through) body woods, angled headstock ..................

There are plenty of builders out there that have proven that they can build a quality 34" scale bass with a strong B string. If yours can't....ask him why not......

I agree, If built right scale makes little difference.
I played a JP 33" 6-string that had a monster B-string.
