I don't think the speaker cab gem ever was functional but we already have planed to do an LED light. They are blue.

Thanks Beans on toast, I knew I had read about the Triad mod awhile back. My guy will looking at the head again sometime in the coming weeks. The cab is plenty big enough for some high end speakers. I thinking Kappalites unless I get a great deal on something else. I really want to do Neos so I will actually use it.(weight) i have access to JBLs cheap, my tech has a pile of various JBLs) but as much as I love the old girls I want to be able to hit it with 500+ watts and not worry.

Interesting similarity. Owned by @edbass . The handle is very close to the one that Ampeg used in 1963.

I give you .....the fabulous, POLARIS BASS AMP !!!!

Im not sure if the three knobs on the left are original or not. They are similar to what I remember. But my amp didn't have stack pots. The knobs, left to right are, Volume, Treble, Bass and Brilliance.
The extra pots don't seem to do anything right now. Also my old amp only had power and standby switches. The mini toggle in the middle doesn't work. So my guy is going to try to figure out what they all did. And how it's been reworked. The input jacks have spring loaded covers, kinda cool.
I think my old amp was a DynaCo Mk. II, as, I believe the Sunn 200S is, and this amp is a Mk. III. So we need to look into the differences.
Beans on toast if you know, I'd be curious to know the differences. We will, of course, get into researching it in the near future.

The Mk2 had a 5U4 rectifier tube and EL34 output tubes. The MK3 used a 5AR4 rectifier and 6550 or KT88 output tubes, and a different output transformer. The amps are different. In my opinion, the MK3 is better suited for bass with a bit more headroom.

There are plug in solid state modules that can replace the rectifier tube. They provide less sag, a little more headroom when the amp is pushed. Weber sells ones that sag a bit as well. An added advantage is that they do not draw heater current so thepower transformer will run a little cooler.

Old tubes like the KT88's can be worth a lot. A NOS Mullard 5AR4 is pretty expensive as well. Always nice when you find good tubes in you vintage amp.

That material was originally used for the seat covering on old Pullman train cars, so any "mod" properties would likely be coincidental ;) .
Mr. Sundholm used it on the original split chassis rigs for the first few years of Sunn production. IIRC he told me he bought a bunch of it cheap.
