I paid $750, so $600 is a good find.

I've since had the chance to play this bass live and just love it. I put TI flats on it and they give it a nice mellow bark, great lows out of it too.

I bought mine used 4 years ago. I had seen these when they came out in 97, but never played one. I was very lucky that mine was in excellent condition. The signature is slightly worn, but not bad. I did order a replacement pickguard from WD. This bass plays and looks great. I do take it to a few gigs.

So the WD guard fit at the heel? Which model did you get?

Yeah, I looked at that last night. Bridge replaced with a BadAss, pups and electronics replaced with a full-scale EMG setup, finish on the back of the neck removed entirely (on purpose, not just played in...)

I would have snagged it but for the neck. I just don't dig that feel.

Seller seems like a cool guy.

I know this is a reeaalllly old thread but I thought I'd share anyway. I bought one of these used several years ago and was lucky enough to find out that NR also signed a stack of extra pickguards at the same time he signed the ones that were put on the basses.These spare guards were offered at, if my memory isn't totally gone, at Angela's. Since mine was already beginning to fade I ordered one up and have had it put away ever since. After reading all this talk about Fender guards not fitting I pulled it out just to check....same guard, same heel width, same cover and bar holes. If I ever decide to let the bass go at least I can offer it with a spankin' new original guard with the plastic on an undegraded signature.
