My soundman is happy with the tone of my Musicman Stingray5 dual humbucker in position 3 (both pickups on) and the eq flat on the bass. I play with the volume all the way up on the bass and he is complaining about the hiss/noise. Does anyone else notice this? I get more volume out of the position 1 setting (the classic musicman position) btw

This is a 2007 SR5 if that helps

Thanks

No noise out of mine but yes, you will get more volume out of position 1. I personally like the sound in position 3 (both humbuckers full) the best but I use position 1 for the old school songs since it is the classic Musicman sound. You may want to have your bass checked if you're getting hissing noise. Something may be going crazy in the wiring.

Also, I used to play with the volume all of the way up until I started leaving more headroom for eq changes. At any rate, I've never experienced any hissing noise with the volume at any level.

I would suggest turning up your amp a little more and turning down the volume on your bass to around 50% or 60% so you can leave room on your bass' eq section for volume and eq adjustments.
