Hi all,
Just looking to get myself a set of these but I don’t see too much out there.
I want them to be passive, so EMGs are out of the picture unfortunately…so far the new Aguilar DCBs look right except they are hum cancelling dual coil and the Delano HE/S are a little bit pricey at $258 .... any suggestions on ones any of you guys know about?

It’s not the aesthetic that I’m after,
I’m aware I can just put a different cover on... The spacing on my 4 string is a little tighter than most so I need some thing with the ceramic bar magnet as the standard pole spacing on the exposed ones is out of line with my strings quite a bit ...

EMG do make a passive version of the J pickups:

That is if you like EMG's in general.

I had the active EMGs on my old Jazz. They sound great. The output was no stronger than with the original passive Fender pickups. The battery fits easily in the control cavity, and lasts a long long long time. Changing batteries once a year is probably too often. I put them on because the pole pieces didn't line up right on both pickups, no matter what I did. The truth is, it makes no difference whether or not they line up exactly.

If you want bar magnet pickups why did you ask about closed covers? They're two different things.

You get useful advice by asking for what you're actually looking for.

I originally wanted something like these but they only make these with humcancelling dual ceramic bars, so I wanted the same except single ceramic bar underneath which I thought would classify it as single coil, and that’s why I got on talkbass to ask if such a thing exists....
