None more black?

I like it TTA !

I went on a similar adventure a few years ago with a Fender Deluxe Jazz bass that was originally black body with tort pickguard, a maple neck and a rosewood finger board. I replaced everything I could with solid black parts ( pick guard, strap buttons, nut, all visible screws, control plate, string retainer, output jack ). I painted the tuning keys and bridge black, and put stick-on black bars over the fret marker dots. I was torn about whether or not to paint the headstock but I left as original :(. I also considered putting black tapewound strings on it but I never got around to that. I gigged with that bass for several years and got plenty of complements on the Black-On-Black bass which I ended up trading for a nice G&L that I had been looking for.
dr bass has black beauty strings. i might try em but with frets there will always be some non black.

Sweet. That goes to -11. (Due to extreme blackness.)

The build is getting closer to completion. Musicraft neck arrived (dented, thanks ups!). i installed it all myself and it was pretty easy. i just took my time measuring and drilling the tuner screws. the neck was basically perfect out of the box, but it will need some fret rounding. i used the nut from my mim jazz, but the d does buzz when played open. but it was bolt on, and boom everything perfect including intonation.

A few first impressions is that the neck feels great but it is not crazy thin like my original 95 mim neck. this is a custom contemporary c that is 83/92mm. I guess this is quite similar to modern fender.

I looked on the musicraft site again and saw the 60's option that is 79/99. i swear i did not see that, otherwise i miggt have chosen it.

balance was my worry especially as i installed my 80g hipshots instead of waiting on hipshot ultralites. I gambled right though, as it still balances well. but i am guessing that without the ashtray covers it might have mild neck dive.

i will get playing impressions tomorrow.
