None more black?

My blackout MIM jazz build continues. Arrived is a musikraft wenge on wenge neck with black blocks and black binding. cf rods. two piece. Only regret it the bullet truss rod (not black! Ordered without realizing it would pop out like it does. i am sure it will grow on me.)

Frets need some edges smoothed but it is quite nice. Sadly it got a headstock dent, i presume thanks to ups as the box was dented in. A bit annoying as i checked off most features so it is no cheap neck!

I will say a maple board would have been sick too. can you imagine with a blacked out headstock? sexy!

way back when there was a listing in the los Angeles CL for an early 80s fender mustang it was all stock and blacked out just like this, it had the white ply on the pick guard too but it had an incredible bony maple board that just sang out.

If the headstock damage is a dent rather than a gouge with actual wood loss, you may be able to steam it out with a damp cloth and ordinary household iron or soldering iron. Nice looking bass.

Love Black hardware/Pickguard etc. Im trying to start a Clear to Black burst "murdered out" Bass to assemble. A long time sgo someone told me he doesnt like Black hardware because it wears through. Ive had a Blacked out Bass for Three years now and its not happening. Also, it just looks super cool.!

thats gorgeous wood never tried it..the black inlays are wild..now i wanna build another....You could always paint the truss rod end, since your going all-out on black

Really only one acceptable color for a bass, IMVHO.

I did a little web crawl, couldn't find a black trussrod nut, might have to powder coat or paint one for full None More Black. A black Tusq nut is a no brainer though.

I went on a similar adventure a few years ago with a Fender Deluxe Jazz bass that was originally black body with tort pickguard, a maple neck and a rosewood finger board. I replaced everything I could with solid black parts ( pick guard, strap buttons, nut, all visible screws, control plate, string retainer, output jack ). I painted the tuning keys and bridge black, and put stick-on black bars over the fret marker dots. I was torn about whether or not to paint the headstock but I left as original . I also considered putting black tapewound strings on it but I never got around to that. I gigged with that bass for several years and got plenty of complements on the Black-On-Black bass which I ended up trading for a nice G&L that I had been looking for.

I'll play! The Midnight Lady came to me with worn out goldish hardware so going all black was a no brainer. Bridge is a Kramer branded Schaller 3D4 and Guyker bass tuners and a lucky find for the P logo knobs in black. DR Black Beauties sound very nice and look good too.

the skunk is nice, but i ordered 2 piece… is a tr stripe not 1 piece?

maple on black i have never loved, but would be interesting to see with wenge.
