Noob ? about Hartke

I prefer the 410 as well. But, this comes down to what sound you prefer.

Your post suggests you may be thinking of eventually running both a 410 and 115 cabinet from the same amp (?). I think you might find it worthwhile to search here on TB and read about mixing cabinets before committing to purchase.

Yeah. You want to decide whether you want to get 2 4x10s or 2 1x15s. If you mix driver sizes a little man will jump out of the cab port and punch you in the groin every time you try to play.

About to buy a Hartke setup and atm I can only afford the head and one cabinet. With that said until I can get both cabinets, what's better to get first a 1x15 cabinet or a 4x10?

Can you demo before buying?

If so, try each cab by itself, see which one sounds better to you.

I used to own an HA3500 MOSFET and a Transporter 410 and a 115. I never used the 15, I just liked the 410 so much better. The 15 had a high mid focused voicing that took a lot of EQ to correct, which is why I never ran them both. Each cab required vastly different EQ settings to get them to sound good. They just aren't very compatible, but each is great on it's own.

Which Harkte head?
with the LH1000 and its balance control, you can dial back a 15 so it's not swamped by trying to share power with a 4x10. If it's anything else, read up on the mixed-cabinet concept/controversy.

Also - good used cabinets are frequently to be found in the TB classifieds. I know this because I've bought two and have one for sale there now ;-). The issue with used cabinets is usually location, location, location - they're big, heavy, and expensive to ship. Find one local and it can ve a _very_ good deal... (F'rinstance, if you were in the MidAtlantic and wanted a VX-410...)
