NOOBY NEEDS HELP!

I played slapstick bass a long time ago, for a couple months and only for fun and I didn't mess with any of the equipment.
I have a good good friend of mine who is helping me a little, and she suggested I get a Stingray, Spector, or P bass. Should I leave the pickups on and use them, or get different one's?
Don't be afraid to be specific, lol

IMO, just keep it simple for now. Find a bass you're comfortable with and just play it.

no, that's a really rare technical term, i forget what everyone else calls it, but Feidly from Korn plays it most of the time
