Nordstrand NP4V vs Fender Vmod ii

I agree on the lacking character comments. I've had the bass for 6 years and it was fine with flats for Motown stuff. I recently installed Aguilar 4P60 which are nice warm polite pickups. On my other P I am currently trying out the P46 pickups but have some used CS62s coming. I was and might still, try the NP4Vs based on the FatBassTones demo if I am not very happy with the CS62s.

I remember liking the Custom Shop 62. By memory the Nordstrand sounded like a vintage P-bass, but I perceived it as a bit laid back. I just pushed the amp a little more and the NP4V gained a bit more punch. I haven't played with the Nordstrand for quite some time so I'm not completely sure of the details. Either way I liked the Nordy pickups. The CS62's, though, were more my speed. I'll be interested in reading about where you land and why.

I just put together a Fender Am Pro II Jazz bass with Stratosphere parts(excellent fit and finish), I didn't want an active bass....unplugged the bass sounds amazing with RotoSound 77 flats, every note clean and clear, nice sustain. This maple jazz neck is fantastic, solid, low action with very little relief.....Plugged in it's Ok, but lacking something.....it has the new V-Mod II single-coil pickups designed by Tim Shaw....I was wondering if any TB're had experience with Jazz 4 string pickups....The different choices? This bass deserves a better plugged in sound!
