At least it was a cheap one. I paid almost twice as much for the pickups as I did for the bass.
Tell the truth I’m thinking about grabbing a new one, gutting it and throwing a set of quarter pounders in there and leave it pssive
I used to have a white one and should never got rid of it, the neck was great and I bet it weighed only 6lbs
I damn near went with Quarter Pounders on this, but got a good deal on the Nordstrands. Glad I did. Hadn't tried them before and I'm very happy with 'em.
Interesting you guys feel the Nordstrand electronics being lower output! Remember lots of instruments out there have humbuckers (mostly wired in series) and preamp with added gain (Bartolini, EMG etc).
In my experience, comparing same pickup design (like jazz single coil to jazz single coil, P alnico V to P A V etc) they have similar if not more out put.
Again, pickups like BS, BSp, FS, have a typical structure like a standard J (single coil, or split), but wider aperture (the twisted pp).
To answer killed-by-death about DCR, BS4 = B ~8.5kΩ, N ~8.1kΩ

I have a pair of Bigmans in a Warwick $$4.
Mo helped me get them installed.
He is an asset.
Hot and hotter tends to make pickups become peaky, thuddy, tonally 1 dimensional, just not great things.
The 10% overwound Fralins in my Jazz 5 needs the Stellartone J system bc I get all kinds of icepick highs trying preamps.
There's something to be said for passive filtering.
Bigmans are a lot if signal, I found deficiencies with some of my amps.
I tend to use them split down to a pair of Big Singles for clarity.
I like contrast, so the alnico depth of a Bigman in whatever mode goes well with my colder solid state gear.
They're very quick pickups, the response is very fun.
I become less a sax player and more a trumpet player, if you get my drift.
Try a Bigman in the neck position, it sounds much bigger and more harmonically complex.
I wanted some contrast for my tube amps, so I bought a Big Blademan a week or so ago.
It's probably going into a P, given my preference for thicker sounding pickup positions.
I like ceramic pickups bc you get less round woof and more sharp bark out of something like an SVT or Buster 200.
It's subtle, like aioli instead of mayo, but addictive.
