He would keep a joke going for sometimes ten minutes without any kind of hint at a punch line, and then he’d throw it out at the end and you laugh your balls off. The clip I posted above is a three minute version of that. He was great.

Sometimes, the set up would go on so long or be so elaborate that you'd forget you were in the middle of a joke then he'd hit you with the punchline out of nowhere. BAM!
His "knick knack Patty Wack, give the frog a loan" bit is another great example.
