North coil/both coils/south coil + series/parallel

I'm not, yours works as advertised. I just pegged back on his original request that didn't ask for a mute. Kinda for myself, I just wanted to see if his original ask could be done. Which is also why I asked if he's moved on or not. I don't need to waste our time drawing stuff if he's moved on.

Your circuit satisfies his later request for the mute function, mine satisfies his original request. He's got choices, man LOL :thumbsup:

Yeah, shorting the individual coils plays heavy into my circuit. It's a cool thing to know.

I based mine on a schematic I made for having individual pickup Vol (and Tone, if desired) control in both Series and Parallel. I just substituted the Coil Select Switch for the the Volume pots and it worked immediately. I guess I plagiarized from myself LOL.

I was going to just let you find the thread and do your magic as I was sure you had something in the books already, but then decided to give it a shot myself when I saw that Bartolini diagram as the answer became clear!

When @sunbeast posted his diagram, and I saw the improvement of having an integrated kill switch, and the relative simplicity compared to others i had seen which needed a 4pdt switch in the circuit, I decided to count my blessings and use the Sunbeast diagram.
I've ordered switches, and one of the pickups. The other pickup and preamp are going to have to wait due to a couple unexpected expenses taking a chunk out of my project funds. Once I've finally got everything wired up, I'll check back and comment about how it worked out, and my thoughts on whether or not the extra trouble is worth it to have all 4 choices (front coil, rear coil, series, or parallel) over just having 3 choices.

I'll still check out your diagram for continued learning and appreciate you taking the time.

Are you still interested in this configuration? I tried with the diagram @sunbeast provided, but it kept kicking my butt repeatedly LOL. I said screw it and made a new one from scratch.

So, the new circuit will need a 2P2T (on-on) for Series/Parallel and a 2P2T (on-on-on) for Single A/Both/Single B.

From Series or Parallel, you can now switch between Single A, Both A and B, or Single B. If I interpreted correctly what you want, it's a cool idea :thumbsup:

I don't have a wiring diagram yet (I imagine it'll look like spaghetti LOL), but made a schematic of the switching logic. Both schematics are shown in standard Parallel and standard Series (which is Both A and B on). Works as we'd expect series or parallel to work. I made the switches different colors just to differentiate between 'em. Also shown are all possible toggle positions and their associated internal contacts.

Anyway, let me know if this is still what you want and I'll draw a wiring diagram and post some extra schematics to show how different switch positions work. If you've moved on to another configuration, I'll stop here.

It's cool you want to learn instead of just being given an answer. So the following is for you, and any other folk passing thru that are still learning this stuff.

I added a wiring diagram to my original schematic from post 18. The terms "wiring diagrams" and "schematics" get mixed up a bit in the forum. Folk passing thru might benefit from seeing and comparing the same circuit in both forms.

Basically, a schematic's purpose is to show how the circuit works. It's a technical representation of a circuit and concentrates on electrical principles and parameters in a circuit.

The wiring diagram shows how the circuit is physically wired to make the schematic work. It's good for modders to be able to understand and interpolate between the two. For further info, there's plenty online about the differences and purpose of each.

Also, notice the letters I put near the switch terminals. They are convenient references for quicker, easier assembly, modding, and troubleshooting. You can label them anything you want, as long as you're consistent throughout. Letters, numbers, your favorite fowl or fish (terminal Trout connects to terminal Mullet...), it don't matter.

Anyway, here's the original request with the wiring diagram added:

So, while in Parallel, here's what the Coil Select Switch positions will do. The signal path is traced in purple from ground to Out. When in either of the solo positions, one coil gets shorted and disconnected, allowing the selected coil to continue working. As always, and included for free...pretty, pretty colors :):

Here's Series operation and what the Coil Select Switch does. When in either of the solo positions, one coil gets shorted but remains connected to the circuit to provide a path for the selected coil to continue working.:

I've never seen this circuit wired quite like this before. I'm going to try it out right away for my tele bass, which I just routed for new pickups. The bridge pickup will be a dual coil double jazz along with a dual coil Nordstrand BigRig in the neck position. I'll try this wiring scheme for controlling the coils on these 2 pickups. The middle position is a P-pickup, so it'll just have a single switch for series-parallel coils. Then I'll run it all to 3 shunt-style volume controls with a couple series-parallel switches for combining the 3 pickups. I'll add a tone control with a switchable in-line cap for the bridge pickup as well. Wiring it up will take some time and patience, but I expect it'll all be worth it when I'm finished.

Looks like it'll take 4 push-pull pots and 4 mini switches. Fortunately, the existing control cavity is big enough to accommodate. I'm going to sketch it out first, which is half the battle. I've wired a few other 3-4 pickup basses in a similar fashion, so I have my old wiring diagrams to reference and shouldn't have to think too hard. I'm really just adding the 2 extra on-on-on switches for the pickup coil selection this time.
 
The wiring scheme for the coil switches shown above works like a charm. I'm quite surprised at how different the individual coils sound on the bridge and neck pickups. Combining them in series or parallel, and adding in the middle pickup to taste really adds a lot of great tones here to explore.
