Northern Exposure w/Original Music

Anyone here who is a fan of this show know were you can find the shows with the original music? The better part of the series released on DVD does not contain the original songs.

I would really love to watch the show with the intended soundtrack as shown on television.

Sadly, a lot of series that get released on DVD can't secure the rights to release the shows with the original music. My father has a DVD of some Andy Griffith episodes that have other music rather than the iconic whistling theme at the begining. It's just odd to watch.

It is quite odd and some of the canned music overdubs on the later seasons stand out so much it is distracting. My only hope is to find some die hard fan(s) who taped the show from TV. I know there must be someone out there that has compiled the seasons with the original music. Please PM me if you have any leads.

I'd never heard this before! Definitely would keep me from buying some shows I might otherwise be interested in.

I got the series as a Christmas gift and didn't realize it either until watching it. IMHO that the music was a big part of what made the show great...I know it has been preserved out there somewhere.

Oh now this is sad. I loved that show and didn't realize all of the original music wasn't on the DVD's.

I do not think it is worth watching the show with the music changed/removed. It's like removing a character or worse , having a stand in who can't speak the lines!!!
So... I sought out the exact thing you asked for ...a guy recorded them in Canada, he's basically asking for enough to cover cost... look up moosechick and then check out the DVD page. wait...[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Disks contain well defined menus, as well as ALL the original music. This is basically the way they originally aired. This is the only bootleg set I've seen personally. From fellow fans' feedback, and my own opinion, this is the best set and the only one I would recommend if you want bootlegs. I think it is much better than my collection of really old video tapes from A&E airings (which were cut for ads!)."

I really enjoyed Northern Exposure. Refreshingly sweet and perceptive, it was. The music did set it all off

It's surprising how interlinked everything is. The total picture. I picked up the original Kimba cartoon series a while back, for a song - one of the more fond memories from my TV-tailored childhood. But it was the Canadian version - all the music was different and some of the voicings/language-choice etc.

Made me better realise how the show I saw worked its magic. Theme music seems to be particularly important - I guess it's like setting the pins in a bowling alley before it's 'game on.' It's a ritualized event - part of the nature that makes it so memorable. Change that up and you're skittled. Kind of Pavlovian - buttons needed to be pushed.

Still got a lot out of revisiting the show - lots of insights

I always liked knowing that the moose shown in the opening was a Washington State University research moose.

Saw the movie "Cliffhanger" last week - I had forgotten that Janine Turner was in it.

I was just watching The Emperor's Club. Decent flick - lots of notable faces including Rob Morrow's. The nature of stereotypes has a distinct braking effect on some careers and turns the screws sometimes in some unusual ways. Interestingly, Morrow goes against stereotype here. Good film though - well worth a look.

A line from Kevin Kline's character, Mr. Hundert, sums it all up pretty nicely; "According to Heraclitus, 'You cannot step into the same river twice. In the flow of time,' he argued, 'an opportunity lost is lost forever.'" So many miss the boat, along these lines. But, at least they got their feet wet
